Select a marker to open its page. Each marker is the official monitoring point for that bathing water, not an outlet. Red means a discharge is reported at one or more of its outlets right now. Blue means every outlet in the group has a current report of no discharge. Grey means incomplete monitor reports: at least one outlet is offline, has no live feed or has no current report.

A count is the number of outlets whose latest company report says a discharge is taking place. It does not measure volume or water quality. Outlets without a current report are counted as unknown, not as no discharge.

Questions about bathing waters

Is a bathing water safe to swim in today?
These pages cannot tell you that. The annual classification is a longer-term record, and an outlet report describes monitor activity at one outlet. Check the official bathing-water profile, local signs and current conditions before entering the water.
What does “discharge reported now” mean for a bathing water?
It means the latest company report for one or more outlets within 3 km of the monitoring point says a discharge is taking place. Distance alone does not show whether that outlet affects the bathing water, and a stopped report does not mean the water is safe.
What do the 2025 classifications mean?
Excellent, Good, Sufficient and Poor are annual classes set by the Environment Agency from water samples taken over several bathing seasons. In 2025, 297 sites were Excellent, 95 sites were Good, 25 sites were Sufficient, 32 sites were Poor. 15 sites have no standard 2025 class in this file.
Why do some bathing waters have no classification?
A newly designated site may not have enough samples for a class. Some records are marked un-assessed or have no value in the official file. We show them as not available rather than guessing.
What does “outlets within 3 km” mean?
Each page lists the outlet records within 3 km of the official monitoring point, in a straight line. 432 of the 464 bathing waters have at least one outlet record within that distance. Nearby does not mean the outlet affects that water.
How current is this list?
