Sewage Map

Monthly storm overflow activity

We check nine water company monitor feeds every 15 minutes and log each discharge event they report. This page sums up the events that started in each month.

How to read this page

  • An event is one period when a company feed reported an overflow discharging. These are not annual spill counts, which use the 12/24-hour method.
  • Events are grouped by the month they started. Hours are the full time from start to end, or to now if the feed still reports the event.
  • Each feed gives only the latest event for each monitor. If a new event starts before we see the end of the last one, that end is unknown and adds no hours. Very short events between checks can be missed.
  • The log started on the date shown above. It has no events from before then.
  • A discharge event does not show how much sewage was released or whether water is safe. Check official bathing-water advice before entering the water.
